This years ducklings have hatched much later than normal.  They are a small batch of four ducklings that hatch at the beginning of September.  Three yellow (they will grow in to fine white ducks) and two brown.

We were soon made aware of their presence by their mothers orderly quacks as they happily swam about the pond.

Young ducklings need a lot of protection from predators so we moved them in to our safe rearing pen that sits just on the side of the pond allowing them access to paddle happily on the water as well as having the safety of a duck house to retreat to.

Once the ducklings are about four/five weeks old we will let them out on the pond and join the rest of our small group of ducks.
