Meet Cheryl and Roger, the inspiration behind North Hayne Farm! They're the friendly, welcoming owners who live on-site and take care of every detail to ensure your holiday is unforgettable. Since taking over the farm in 2004, they’ve poured their hearts and energy into creating a place where every guest feels right at home.

Cheryl brings a wealth of experience in early childhood development, having taught child care courses to young adults, while Roger spent 23 years in the fast-paced world of IT, working with a variety of fascinating clients. These two may come from completely different backgrounds, but their unique skills blend perfectly to create a holiday experience that’s anything but ordinary!

They’re joined by a small but mighty team, each person dedicated to making your stay as special as possible. Everyone is encouraged to find new ways to make your holiday even better, whether it’s offering a helping hand or suggesting something extra to enhance your stay. It’s all about going the extra mile to ensure you have the best time possible at North Hayne Farm!

Cheryl

Upon arrival you will be met by Cheryl who will welcome you to North Hayne Farm and explain a little about your first day.

She will be down at the farm when we are busy to help guide our new farmers through their first feeding session and is based at reception throughout the week looking after bookings, housekeeping and marketing.

Fun Fact: As a child she was grabbed by a Orangutan at a zoo and lifted off the ground by her hair.  We can safely confirm that monkeys will not be joining the farm anytime soon:-)

Roger

Once you have settled in to your cottage, Roger will give you a demonstration and guidance of how to use your hot tub.

He will check your hot tub twice daily and ensure it's quality is maintained.

Other responsibilities include general maintenance, animal welfare and very boring admin duties!

Roger will also look after you when you have your donkey ride!

Fun Fact: As a child Roger had great aspirations to be an astronaut.  Sadly he soon realised he didn't like heights!

Emily

Our daughter Emily is responsible for handing out the animal feed during your daily feeding sessions.  She has a special fondness for our lambs that we bottle feed from early April.

Emily is also our fully trained holistic therapist who is available to book in advance (subject to availability).

Fun Fact: Emily has always had a soft spot for our orphan lambs and has acquired the family nickname of Lamily.

Jen

Jen works part time with Emily and Roger down at the farm helping where necessary and mucking out the donkeys each day.

To keep her busy she also helps Roger with hot tub management and helps run our onsite activities.

Fun Fact: Jen is also a very talented pencil artist!

Dave

Our gardens are maintained by our gardener Dave.  His knowledge is impressive and is always happy to chat about plants.  Ask him nicely and he might even let you take a cutting.

Fun Fact: He is one of the organising members of our local North Devon Show which is held every year in nearby Umberleigh Barton.

Ruth

Additional help cleaning out the animal areas is provided by Ruth twice a week.  Ruth has farming in her blood and is a great person to talk to for advice on farm animals.

Our House Keeping Team

We wash and iron all of our linen on site which makes it easier to control the quality of our bedding and improve our carbon foot print.

We have a small hard working team who are amazing and some have been with us for many years.  They make it possible to keep our cottages spick and span, super clean and well presented.

Fun Facts: When the team were asked for one truth and one lie these were some of the truths.....
